I’m talking about Sabbath this morning. It’s God’s gift to us. Sabbath recreates us into God’s image. Sabbath doesn’t happen on accident.
If you are busy, tired, and / or stressed out—live with this prayer this week. Circle some phrases. Journal a few thoughts. Listen to what God is trying to teach you. And, practice Sabbath a few times so that you can give the world the best you.
My life is full of responsibilities, tasks, and worries.
I’m tired of being tired.
You rested after creating the world.
You instruct me to rest. (Exodus 20:8)
Make me lie down in green pastures,
Lead me beside quiet waters,
Refresh my soul. (Psalm 23:1-3)
I pray for Sabbath.
Help me to consistently find times and places for You to re-create me.
Times and places to listen and laugh.
Times and places to rest and reflect.
Times and places to pray and play.
Times and places to rejuvenate and be restored.
Give me faith to trust Your words that Sabbath is the best use of my time and energy.
Let me find joy and delight during Sabbath.
May I emerge from Sabbath as reinvigorated, balanced, and focused.
